Portfolio Sample Ver. 1

Into the Skies
For those who don't know who I am, my name is Eric R. Buterman.  I am a 2D/3D Artist who is looking for work opportunities and posting some new and old pieces on this blog.  There will be no 3D samples for I haven't been able to afford the proper tools to continue with my 3D work but I have kept myself still digital painting/sketching whenever I get the chance.

Please enjoy taking a tour through my pieces and if there is any questions you want to ask about my work, critique or offer any opportunities, please email me:

(Above:  Requested by a friend of mine, she wanted someone who could pull off a sunset kind of scenery in any medium.  What went through my mind was, "If I was going to see the beauty of a sunset, where would be the perfect place to see it?"  Clouds was the first thing went through my mind.  Used Photoshop CS4.)

(Right:  As both a challenge and request by the same person above, I wanted to test my skills I had required after graduating at the Centre Arts of Technology Okanagan college I attended at 2009-2011.  Under one hour, I was surprised how this piece that turned from a challenge into a great piece.  Used traditional sketch pencils.

(Left (outline):  At the beginning of my semester at the Centre Arts of Technology Okanagan college, we were assigned after learning the basics of Adobe Illustrator to make a vector image off an original image.  As the first assignment, I want to pick one of my most favorite movies: Princess Mononoke.  Here is the original image:

Progression

Good Evening to everyone,

For those who are checking on my blog for new updates or waiting to see some work in progress, I must apologize for not posting anything.  The reason for not posting anything 3D work or 2D is because of the lack of technology I currently posses.  And also, I come from a small redneck/hick town so our technology everywhere is very limited (Not to mention any work being available (Not related to the Gaming/Entertainment Industry) so I can get some coin to buy my equipment for the past 3 months).

But I haven’t given up on learning what I can at my end.  I have been learning how to digital paint in Adobe Photoshop CS3/CS5 to increase my art skills/knowledge to create better concept works.  Since I haven’t posted anything, I’ll post what I thought was a good 20 minute warm up drawing so you can see where I am at.

Before ending this blog message, I also want to mention that I have created an account in cghug to increase my networking and later post some of my new experience with digital painting.  And I am also happy to say that I’m starting to gather a lot of reference for my production reel I want to work on when I do gain the technology to start on this exciting product.  I would love to hear for any volunteers who are willing to be my supervisors to guide me to make this production reel a success for different departments like; modeling, animation, camera, cinema camera/animation, lighting, rendering, and etc.

I promise to keep you all up to date where my situation is and when I begin my journey to continue the path in the Gaming/Entertainment Industry.

Thank you all for your time.

Life Drawing Practice

It had been 5 months since the last time I sketched or did any kind of artwork. So one day after being up for 30 hours+, I decided that I didn't want to waste my day by sleeping but to continue with my drawings. So I decided to draw people once again and this is what I got after 45 minutes. Plus I wanted to go digital versus traditional because I wanted to be environment friendly with paper.

Any thoughts or critiques that I could improve on?

Greatness from Small Beginnings

Greetings to everyone!

My name is Eric R. Buterman and I‘m a 3D Game Modeller graduate from The Centre for Arts and Technology.

This is my first blog for posting my artwork/concept work to the world and get professional critique from other artists.  I do have a deviantart account but here I can post any videos of my 3D Modeling, 3D Animation or Video Editing work with a video link.  I hope that I can get all the help I can get in the Gaming/Entertainment Industry and others so I can be more prepared for the journey down the road.

What I offer to the industry are not only my creativity, talents and determination but also my strength and spirits for never giving up. My passion for gaming is in all parts of my life; I plan on working on big AAA games.

Thank you everyone for your time!

Eric R. Buterman
